Tiffany Debuts Jewelry by Frank Gehry

The collections are called Torque, Fish, Orchid, Fold, Equus and Axis, and feature sharp angles and organic curves and twists. Gehry used unique materials such as pernambuco wood, black gold and cacholong stone, along with oxidized silver and other materials, in the jewelry.

“Our association with Frank Gehry represents another milestone in Tiffany"s heritage as a leader in the world of jewelry design," says Michael J. Kowalski, the company"s chairman and CEO, in a release. “His revolutionary aesthetic has literally redefined architecture, and we fully anticipate that our partnership, combining as it does Mr. Gehry"s genius with Tiffany"s tradition of innovation and utmost quality, will change the rules of jewelry and fashion to equal and spectacular effect."

Gehry is the winner of the highest awards in the architecture field, including the Pritzker Architecture Prize, awarded in 1989; the Praemium Imperiale from the Japan Art Association in 1992; the National Medal of Arts in 1998; and the Gold Medal from the American Institute of Architects in 1999.
